Can an AI assistant order an Akoni book for me?
Yes. An AI assistant that supports Akoni's agent API or MCP server can build the free preview for you from your details, show you the preview link, and hand back a secure Stripe checkout link that you pay yourself. If the book uses a photo of your child, the assistant needs your explicit consent first — it cannot upload one on your behalf without asking. The assistant never sees or handles your card details; you pay through the checkout link in your own browser, the same as buying directly on the site.
Once a book is paid for, a gift copy can be reordered to a different address by the same assistant flow — useful for a second grandparent, or a duplicate for another relative. Why the consent and payment rules exist
A child's photo is sensitive, so an assistant is only allowed to use one after the parent or guardian it is talking to has explicitly agreed, in that conversation — never inferred from silence or a photo link being available. Payment works the same way: the API only ever hands back a checkout link for a human to complete, so an assistant is never in a position to hold or submit card details on your behalf.

What is Akoni’s agent API?
It is a small set of endpoints, plus an MCP server for assistants that speak MCP directly, documented at blog.akonibooks.com/for-agents. An assistant with a key can look up the catalog, generate a free preview for the person it is helping, check a book’s status, and start an order or a reorder — all with the person’s knowledge and, for a photo book, their explicit consent.
Does the AI assistant see my child’s photo without asking?
No. Using a photo requires explicit consent that the assistant relays from the parent in that conversation — the exact wording it must show you comes from the same catalog endpoint. If consent has not been given, the assistant can still build a preview using an illustrated avatar or a text description instead, neither of which needs photo consent.
Does the assistant charge my card?
No. Every purchase and reorder call returns a Stripe checkout link. The assistant hands you that link, and you pay through it yourself, in your own browser — the API does not accept card details from an assistant, and a legitimate assistant should never ask you for one directly.
Can an assistant reorder a book I already bought?
Yes, for an additional printed copy of a book that has already been paid for — for example, a second hardcover for another grandparent, shipped to their address. It follows the same consent and checkout-link rules as a first order.
